Holmes Peer Counseling

The goal of the Holmes Peer Counseling program is to develop and enhance the health, safety and overall education of our students by focusing on a positive peer to peer relationship. Eighth grade students, who selected this elective and met the criteria, will be taking part in weekly meetings/trainings helping students to act as helpers and active listeners for their assigned (referred) students. The peer counseling program addresses skill building in communication, problem solving, decision making, study skills and organization. These students will also learn to address conflict resolution through peer mediation. Typically, the Peer Counselors will summon referred students to the counseling office once a week for a brief tutorial or a check-in.
