Earthquake Resistant Structure Project

Parents,

This month we have been working on earthquake safety and the effects of earthquakes on humans. The students culminating task is to create an earthquake resistant structure. Students will be working on this structure in class. We will begin building on Tuesday. I would like the students to focus on using recycled materials.  You should not make a trip to the store to purchase items for this project. If you would like to purchase items I have limited the students to two items. We have done extensive research on the technology used in earthquake resistant structures and I am excited to see their designs. Thank you for your help at home.

This week we will be working on a Group Project called "Journey to the center of the Earth". Every student was given a job. We are working in class so that the students are able to get help throughout the assignment. Today we were researching. They can continue working on this at home. IF they get stuck I can help them tomorrow. Tomorrow we will work on creating slides for their group PowerPoint. The power point will be due by Friday. This project will be the homework for this week.

Reminder: Presentations are due on Friday. I can't wait to see your masterpiece.

Lab Report Conclusions

Students are expected to type their conclusion in Google Docs. The conclusion must be in the form of a paragraph. All answers were reviewed in class today. If your child prefers to print it at home they can. I am available during lunch to answer any questions or help.
