Course Description
6th grade SAS Science will be focusing on Earth Science NGSS (New Generation Science Standards). Students will participate in enrichment and discovery through hands on activities, experiments, group work, projects, and presentations. We will also focus on relating math and science across curriculum. Below are the main topics for Earth Science this year.
- Roles of Water in Earth’s surface processes, Weather and Climate, Human Impacts
- Earth Systems and Cycles, Plate Tectonics and Earth Structure
- Weathering, Erosion, Deposition, and Soil Formation
Students will be using a unit folder containing workbook pages and experiment activities using the scientific method to reinforce and further develop an understanding of 6th grade Earth Science Standards. All assignments will start in class but may need to be completed at home. All assignments will be kept in the folder and will be due just prior to the assessment at the end of each unit. Projects will be assigned occasionally. Any late projects will receive a lowered grade.
Students who are absent are responsible for updating their missed class notes, making up exams, and completing assignments in a timely manner.
